For a drama the difference that matters is the recurring cast. Scenario: 10 episodes of 90 s, vertical. That is 900 finished seconds; with the 1.4× retake headroom used in this site's cost charts, about 1,260 generated seconds. Prices checked 2026-09-12.
- Pika: Pika 2.5 costs 20 credits per 5 s at 720p (4 credits per second) and 40 per 5 s at 1080p. At 720p the series is about 5,040 credits: one month of the $76 plan (6,000 credits, billed yearly) or a little over two months of the $28 plan (2,300 credits). That works out near $0.05 per second. Clips are 5 or 10 s, so plan on 126–252 generations.
- Runway: Gen-4.5 at 12 credits per second makes the series about 15,120 credits, two cycles of Max (9,500 credits, $95 a month or $76 billed yearly), roughly $0.10–$0.12 per second on that plan. Runway's pricing lists music, voice and sound generation from Standard and a custom voice clone from Pro (Runway pricing); Gen-4.5's launch post does not mention native audio (Gen-4.5 post).
Licensing also separates the plans: Pika's pricing page ticks watermark-free downloads and commercial use from the $28 plan upward, while the $8 plan (700 credits, all resolutions) leaves both unticked. Runway lists no watermarks from its $12 (billed yearly) Standard plan.
